Keith Vogel is a mechanical engineer, father of two great boys, husband, triathlete and artist residing in Queensbury, NY.
As with most young boys, Keith was interested in cars at an early age. In third grade he was drawing cars with big engines, large tires and flames exiting dual exhaust. This love of cars followed through school and beyond where his interest was not only drawing them, but working on them as well. While the left side of his brain was the busy mechanic, the right side was becoming intimately familiar with all the cars' lines and shapes. Keith worked on other peoples vehicles and restored several of his own. All along he was drawing cartoons of cars just as he did in grade school, but with increasing detail.
In 2002, Keith introduced color into his artwork, and turned his favorite past time into a second job. Doodles Custom Artwork was formed to put the passion for cars on paper. Today Keith works in full color pencil media on 60# paper or 100% vector (digital) art. His main sales are commissioned framed original full color caricatures typically created from just a photograph or a verbal description. His artwork captures the owner's prized possession in "Lifelike", "Mild" or "Wild" format. In this digital age, Keith realized his artwork had to be digital too, so he learned how to create the images digitally, where they can be used for many things from business logos to T-shirts.
As a fellow gear-head and mechanic, Keith's hands on experience helps him relate with his customers. Still, his knowledge of automobiles is ever increasing, as each car he draws usually has an interesting "story" that the owner shares. Keith has had over 200 customers in the last 8 years, and can usually recite the story of every car he has drawn.
His (right side brain) artwork business is a side line only, purposely kept low key due to infinite time constraints, but perched and ready to expand if he was ever laid off from his main (left side brain) job...
