I got the travel bug when I went around the world on the USS Ammen DD527 during the Korean war and Izzy caught the disease soon after our marriage in 1953. We've been on the go ever since. My interest in photography began when I took a course at Bucknell University in 1952. My wife and I have since travelled to 110 countries with unlimited opportunities to film not only the people but incredible photos of their country.
We prefer ADVENTURE TRAVEL as it takes us away from the normal tourists paths and introduces us to diverse cultures, environmental beauty, unusual friends, high mountain vistas and experiences and a closer sense of the countries' people. We maintain our fitness level through biking, hiking, skiing, running and climbing.
I like to call my display AROUND THE WORLD-MY FAVORITE PLACES AND PEOPLE
Our favorite foreign country is NEPAL and I have been there 12 times since 1978 trekking and climbing. I had my own EVEREST expedition in 1989 and was on two others in 1992 and 1993. We both worked for three months in 1994 and 1997 for the HIMALAYAN RESCUE ASSOCIATION in Manang, a remote village at 12000 feet, providing medical care to locals and altitude lectures and care to foreign trekkers. The most rewarding part was to be medical doctor, obstetrician, dentist and veterinarian for the locals and their animals. Many of the photos in this exhibit were taken in that region.
However, for all our travels in 110 countries, Lake George and the ADIRONDACKS are truly one of the world's most beautiful places and where we chose to retire, inspired by camping on the islands in the narrows with our family since 1964. And lest we forget our wonderful UNITED STATES is unrivaled for its own endless areas of natural beauty.
